Résumé / Abstract
The dislocation structures of large-grained low-temperature-annealed Fe-45at.%Al+B specimens strained to failure over the temperature range 400-1000K have been investigated using transmission electron microscopy. Up to and including 700 K, only <111> slip was observed but, in specimens strained at 800 K and above, both <111> and <001> slip were observed. The onset of <001> slip at 800 K coincides with the temperature at which a peak in the yield stress occurs in this alloy as shown by Klein and Baker in 1994. Optical metallography showed no evidence of either grain-boundary migration or dynamic recrystallization but, at 1000K, both static recrystallization and significant cavitation were noted. Cavitation is a feature common to solute-containing alloys.
