Résumé / Abstract

Selecting an appropriate water project from various alternatives is not an easy task. In the present study, a multiobjective decision matrix has been developed using a weighted scale method to allow easier and more straightforward evaluation for selecting the most feasible water project. The main objective of the investigation is to determine the optimum quantity of surface runoff that can be harvested in a drained basin, which would not only yield direct benefits, such as promoting pisciculture; it would also generate intangible benefits, including creation of employment opportunities and improvements in improving general health, quality of life, and overall socioeconomic status of people in the region. The development ofa multiobjective decision matrix involves the selection of different feasibility components or parameters on the basis of physical surveys throughout the basin. These parameters are assigned weights to get relative importance coefficients (RICs) by comparing two parameters at a time. Alternative choice coefficients (ACCs) are determined similarly to the RIC values. The product of RIC and ACC values yields the score values for the different alternatives in the form of a multiobjective decision matrix that indicates the most feasible project.
