Résumé / Abstract

The author of the present study takes a close examination of recent work by Sabino Palumbieri (Anthropology and sexuality. Assumptions towards a permanent education, Turin, SEI, 1996). She points out that the theme of sexuality is framed in a theo-anthropological perspective, reinforcing the reader's convinction that a trustworthy evangelization is realised first of all through the witness of authentic human relationship existing in the day to day life of men and women. In Palumbieri's work there emerges the ought to be of the man-woman relationship, free from all forms of moralism; it comes out through a good naturality set free from, on the one hand, the abstract and rational lists of imposed values and, on the other, from the strong aversion of those who cannot stand values, turned down as an oppressive superstructure. Palumbieri keeps at a safe distance from the two extremist points of view reguarding sexuality: reductionism (either genital or sexual or affective), and spiritualism. Sexuality, which in itself neither diabolic nor divine, is entrusted to man as a positive and interpersonal feature. At the same time sexuality can bear all the negative fruits of sin, if it is not improved and respected in harmony with the integrity of the whole person.
