Résumé / Abstract

Fingertip injuries are frequent. For soft tissue coverage, most textbooks recommend VY-advancement flaps according to Tranquilli-Leali or Kutler. But the technique is demanding and the gain of length is, as a rule, clearly smaller than shown in the common drawings. Thus, treatment is often prolonged by impaired wound healing or partial secondary healing.Treatment with semiocclusive dressings shows a remarkable regeneration of the fingertip with reappearance of epidermal ridges and normal sensitivity. It is a simple and economical procedure. If the indication is limited to defects including not more than the distal third or, at most, the distal half of the nail bed, semiocclusive dressing is preferable to VY-advancement flaps.
