Résumé / Abstract
The female characters from Rosalía de Castro's novels are of many shades. In fact, the author sometimes takes them to the limit of reality in order to turn them into angels, devils and goddesses; these prototypes are associated with the Jewish-Christian religion but are also connected to the mythical goddesses from the classical Greek-Latin world and even to the female Celtic sovereignties. Rosalia's complex and rich symbolism is increased in a fictional place where the world of the living and the dead come together, as an excuse and setting for tradition and superstition and where the presence of devils, angels and goddesses is unrestricted.
