Résumé / Abstract

Two novel steroidal saponins, (25R)-5α-spirost-7-ene-2-α,3p,5α-triol-3-O[-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→2)]-β-D-glucopyranoside 1 and (25R)-5α-spirost-7-ene-2α,3β,5α, 9α-tetrol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside 2 have been isolated from the rhizomes of Agapanthus africanus (Linn) and their structures elucidated on the basis of spectral and chemical analysis.
