Résumé / Abstract

The Wuppertaler Stadtwerke AG replaced at site CHP Plant Barmen an hard coal-fired block and also an combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) block by a modern CCGT plant. Under influence of the conditions of a liberally energy market and the Combined Heat and Power Generation Law (KWKG) the project examinations, preliminary planning, assignment and conversion of the modernisation measure were accomplished. The realisation of the project was made as an turn-key order by a general contractor. The new CCGT plant was integrated into an existing building and consists of two new gas turbines, each with one unfired heat recovery steam generator. From the old CCGT plant the existing extraction condensation turbine and also auxiliary plant units were integrated into the new plant. For the first time in Europe gas turbines of the type H 25 of the Japanese manufacturer Hitachi Ltd. were built into a power plant. A further new fact are the once through steam generators of the Canadian company Innovative Steam Technologies which are used for the first time in Germany. The special of this boilers is, that they are dry running during start-up and shut-down. Also these boilers can be run dry under gas turbine load. The operator describes the experiences with the conversion of these project and with commission and operation of the new CCGT plant were made. Particularly first experiences with the operation of the main components (HRSG, GT) of the plant.
