Résumé / Abstract
The existence of wild hybrids between different species is a long-known fact which has caused many problems in systematics and taxonomy (SHORT, 1969). Concerning birds a large number of short papers relating to punctual observed cases and fewer longer papers presenting a more synthetic and/or detailed approach including biological, ecological, biochemical and genetical analysis have been published. Concerning western Europe two important works have been published. their content is a commented list of more or less known facts at the time of their publication: SUCHETET (A.) 1896.- Des hybrides à l'état sauvage I Oiseaux et GRAY (P. A.) 1958.- Birds Hybrids. It is not the aim of this paper to start a general discussion, which would be outside our field of competence, but to present what is known, what has been written and said on the hybridisation of the two most common hurundines in the Western Palerarctic. On this question, as small as it is, our knowledge is slim and scientific arguments are lacking. We hope this paper will induce one or several ornithologist well versed in modern techniques to start studying this origina! subject which, might even become fashionable.
