Résumé / Abstract

The term acute psychosis understands a heterogeneous group of psychosis that have a acute beginning, polimorphic symptomatology and quick resolution. In spite of the efforts to get a consent in the current international classifications (DSM-IV and ICD-10), a scarce uniformity is observed in the approaches diagnoses; not existing agreement regarding the symptomatology or time of evolution. This way, according to the used classification, the diagnosis can be different. These differences are bigger when the carried out investigations are analyzed, because the methodological uniformity is scarce. When studying the prognosis and evolution of these psychoses, it is observed that in some of them stays, through the time, a diagnostic stability; while a variable percentage of acute psychosis evolves toward the establishment of a chronic psychosis that goes from affective psychosis to schizophrenia. The study and delimitation of the factors that determine the prognosis of acute psychoses are of evident importance, since a precocious intervention could modify the evolution and later sequels. For it finds indispensable the realization of following studies about acute psychosis.
