Résumé / Abstract

Briartite, germanite, germanocolusite and renierite - complex sulfides of germanium are the rare minerals. The figurative points of their published microprobe analyses were plotted on the diagram Cu+-Me2++Me3+-Me4++Me5+, where Me2+-Cu2+,Fe2+,Zn2+; Me3+-Fe3+,Mo3+,V3+,W4+; Me4++Me3+-Ge4+,As3+, Ga3+,Sn4+,Sb3+. The analyses of briartite and renierite take there a separate position isolated from the common field of germanite and germanocolusite analyses. The author offers schemes of conversion from briartite into germanite and after that into renierite and considers the thermodinamics conditions of equilibrium for these minerals. Using those schemes of conversion, interrelation of the germanium sulfides in the ores and temperatures of their stability it could be concluded that: 1) species of complex germanium sulfides are more numerous than their scope known at present; 2) with arising oxidative conditions briartite might be transformed into germanite, and further into renierite; 3) in the dry laboratory conditions briartite is stable up to 800 °C, germanite decays into briartite and bornite at the temperature range from 500 to 600 °C, and renierite breaks down into chalcopyrite and germanite even at 400 °C. Nevertheless, according to the experimental data, the high-temperature associations can not be formed at the real hydrothermal conditions, with high contents of a solvent. That is the explanation of the broad occurrence of renierite stable up to 400 °C only, and the far more rare findings of the high temperature stable briartite.
