Résumé / Abstract

LiCoO2 seems to be one of the most widely used cathode intercalation materials in lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, which proved to have a highly stable α-NafeO2 structure. The solid state phase reactions used to obtain LiCoO2 have some disadvantages such as non-homogeneity of particles, poor control of stoichiometry and important grain size increases by thermal treatment. In order to avoid these disadvantages, wet chemical methods were used as suitable alternatives for advanced LiCoO2 preparation. In the present work LiCoO2 powders were prepared through a sol-gel process using two alternative routes: the organic (alcoholic) and the aqueous methods. The samples prepared by the two mentioned routes, were annealed at different temperatures in order to observe the structural changes which occur during the thermal treatment. Complex characterization of the obtained materials was made by specific methods such as: X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetric analysis, IR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy.
