Résumé / Abstract
In this study, the cytological structure of Malpighian tubules in young (1 day) and old (3 days) Agrotis segetum (Denis, Schiff., 1775) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) pupae was investigated comparatively by means of transmission electron microscope. Mitochondria were not observed in microvilli of the Malpighian tubule cells of young A. segetum pupae. The lumen of the Malpighian tubules was also seen to be lost in this stage. The basal plasma membrane of the cells was extended parallel to the basal lamina. The basal lamina had a thick and irregular structure. In contrast, mitochondria were observed in microvilli of the Malpighian tubule cells of the old A. segetum pupae. The basal plasma membrane of cells was infolded to form a network. The basal lamina of the Malpighian tubule cells of the old A. segetum is thinner than that of the young pupae. Numerous mineral concretions and autophagic vacuoles were observed in Malpighian tubule cells of both young and old pupae.
